Even though the event was cut short due to rain, Calvary participated in Newark Community Day held at the University of Delaware on Sunday, Sept 17. We were out showing off all the great things Calvary does and had some promising conversations with people who are interested in our ministry! Many thanks especially to the Ramer family for making our tent so visually appealing.

We had 19 children traveling and exploring our Wild Life VBS this year! The Big Idea Creature taught us “It’s Wild!”… “Jesus is why we share our story.” “Jesus helps us use our gifts.” “Jesus invites us to spend time with God.” “Jesus shows us how to spend time with others.” We were introduced to some Wild animals and plants during our visits from John the Baptist and Jesus. We sang songs, played games, ate food, learned our memory verse (Luke 10:27), celebrated Wild Life with Jungle John and made friends! The offering collected is going to Delaware Zoological Society supporting the Brandywine Zoo, to A.D.O.P.T (Animals Depend On People Too) a Red Panda.

Calvary has been proud to host 1in7B Foundation’s Mobile Shower and Laundry Unit onsite. Here, from 1in7B’s founder MARK PUICAN, notes on recent events at Calvary: “Light crowd at our outreach in Newark yesterday with the rain, but shout out to the Sunday school classes at @citylightvineyard church who made a ton of hygiene bags for us to distribute. Thanks @anniemay21 for organizing that for us! Looking forward to serving our friends at Gordon St today!” – event on Friday, August 4, 2023 “Late post from last Friday’s outreach at Calvary Baptist Church in Newark. This volunteer crew rocked it, thanks guys! CPSU (Community Partner Support Unit) from DE Division of Health and Social Services (DHSS) was also onsite to help our guests get connected with much needed services, so thanks Ladonna and Tiffany for your onsite support! Amazing success story we got that day too which I’ll share on a video later…we’re having an impact guys!!!” – event on Friday, July 21, 2023
